Theme: Remember the Piano!
It's been a while since our last fabulous piano seminar. Participate in another great learning experience and meet new friends and catch up with all of our SCRC friends.

Dear Fellow Technicians,

The South Central Regional Board met last Sunday night and discussed the status of the upcoming conference in San Antonio. As many of you are all too aware, Covid-19 and the recent Omicron variant have been much in the news. Many of us have friends and family who have been affected. It would be nice to be able to predict the spike in this round and know that we are safe to proceed with the conference as scheduled. Unfortunately this virus has proven to have a mind of its own and predictions have often been inadequate on several levels.

Not only are we concerned with the health of our conference participants, but we are equally concerned about the staffing levels at the hotel. During our meeting with the hotel management, they assured us that they would be able to meet our needs but did inform us that for our large meal events, they would be bringing in additional staff from either a sister hotel or temporary staff that they use from time to time for such events. It is no secret that labor shortages, especially in the hospitality industry, have been an unfortunate byproduct of Covid.

We have carefully weighed all these factors and others as well, such as travel restrictions, caution levels, and even looked at attendance protocols now in place at public schools and universities. In light of all of this, we have painfully decided that it is in the best interest of all to postpone this year's conference. Our goal is to be back in 2023 in the month of February and we hope to have as many of the same instructors in place as possible.

For those of you who have already registered, let me first say thank you for being willing to attend the South Central Regional Conference. We are prepared to refund any fees paid by you in the same form they were submitted, either credit card or check. In addition, we are working to still put in place Tuning and Technical Exams this year during the time already planned. Some of our examinees are traveling from out of state and had limited exam opportunities. We are in contact with those persons and are working out the details, but we will let everyone know who is already scheduled what those plans are as soon as we get them ironed out, but those will happen.

Thanks again for all your understanding and let me apologize for the inconvenience. It has been my desire to let the show go on, but being the best steward of your health and the health of the conference has overshadowed my personal desires.
